Getting serious now

Currently I am on the road for work. I am the main audio engineer for a touring off Broadway show called Menopause the Musical. For a 27 year old guy this show might seem like torture but the experience of touring with this show, as a whole, is one of the best things I've decided to do with my life. We are currently in Galveston, TX. This poor community is still rebuilding from hurricane Ike. The theater in which we're performing had the first floor under water but now has been restored to a beautiful theater that was built in the later 1800s. In addition to just the show we also collect money for a foundation called 'There's no place like home' which collects donations at the end of the show to help rebuild houses for homeless women. So far, from just 2 shows, we have raised over $1,500. This is amazing considering what all of these people in this area have gone through and given the current state of the economy (or whatever it is that's going on). *As a side note, you should understand that I have very little trust for the government, no matter who is in office.*

Tonight we have another show and hopefully another great night for our foundation. I'm glad that we are able to help people in ways that FEMA, Aid Packages, and our 'great' government can't. The last tour I worked, we raised under $10,000 for a woman in New Hampshire. We visited the location where they were building the house and were so happy to know what this foundation was doing with the money we've raised.

By the way, the people in Galveston are great! Everyone is so nice and the local crew at the theater is amazing. Galveston is an island with great attractions, great seafood and just an overall good vibe. I'm very happy to be here and this community has welcomed us even before we got here.

I'm off to eat seafood.
